Postpartum depression is another kind of emotional disorder that occurs in women immediately after giving birth. This can be defined as a serious medical condition that makes one to feel hopeless, sad, and worthless and in some instances pessimistic about life in general. In some cases, these postpartum depression symptoms are referred to as the baby blues.
Postpartum depression statistics from the Women's Mental Health publication indicates that while about 85% of women experience some type of mood disturbances after child birth, between 10-15% of pregnant women develop more significant symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety. Some of these symptoms are loss of appetite, sever mood swing, lost if interest in sex, difficulty bonding with baby, intense irritability and anger and many more.
